You need to be between 4-17 years old to get counselling from Centacare. You can either book a counselling session yourself or ask your a health professional to give you a referral.
Centacare provides individual or family counselling that caters to all people. You can either have session in person or over the phone. The therapists are trained in various things such as Play Therapy, Mindfulness, Sandtray Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Groups.
They provide short-term counselling which will give you 6-10 sessions with a therapist you can have more sessions if approved by the manager.
There is a 4-6 week waiting time to get an appointment.
If you have a student card or concession card the cost is $10. If you don't have student or concession card the initial appointment is $15. Sessions may be free depending on your situation and after it has been discussed with receptionists/counsellors.
Community Access and Services SA (CASSA) – Primary Mental Health Service

Psychological therapies: This is for people who are experiencing lots of stress in their life or are showing signs of not coping. Therapists will support them to develop skills to manage symptoms that impact their wellbeing.
Low-intensity interventions: 4-7 low-intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy via phone or in person.
Group programs: You can participate in a range of group programs from one-off sessions to six-week programs. The group workshops will provide you with practical knowledge and resources to improve your mental health and wellbeing.
The wait time for a session at Links to Wellbeing is 6 months (the wait time for group programs may be shorter)
Lived Experience Telephone Support Service (LETSS)
People aged 16 years old and over can use LETSS.
LETSS provides a caring voice over the phone who will give you support with mental health conditions and are available between 5pm-11:30pm, 365 days a year.
Provides 24/7 support via phone or online video chat
People aged 15 years old and over can use the online chat and people aged 18 years old and over can also use the video chat to get support.
Mensline gives free professional 24/7 telephone counselling support to men who have concerns about their mental health, anger management, family violence (using and experiencing), addiction, relationship, stress and wellbeing.
